Onthe afternoon of November 16, Professor Gu Guoying, a professor ofShanghai Jiaotong University, winner of the National DistinguishedYouth Fund, and German Humboldt scholar, gave an academic titled"Research Progress and Thinking of Soft Robotics" forteachers and students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering ofour school at 8B222 of the Communications Building. The report washosted by Mr. Chen Saixuan from the School of Mechanical andAutomotive Engineering.
ProfessorGu Guoying was a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology, National University of Singapore and Concordia Universityin Canada.He is mainlyengaged in robotics and software robotics research, presided overmore than ten national, provincial and ministerial scientificresearch projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation ofChina and the National Key Research and Development Program. He iscurrently the Associate Editor of IEEE T-RO and IEEE RAL, andRobotics of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society,the deputy director general of the branch andthe secretary general of the Shanghai Robotics Society.
Atthe report meeting, Professor Gu introduced the current researchprogress and thinking of soft robots in simple and easy-to-understandlanguage, as well as important application prospects in the fields ofrehabilitation assistance, health care, and special environmentalsurveys. Professor Gu's report was vivid and wonderful, and waswarmly welcomed by teachers and students.
