The experimental center of the College of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering was established in 2018. It is formed by the merger of the former Central Laboratory of the College of Mechanical Engineering and the Central Laboratory of the College of Automotive Engineering. It is subordinate to the College of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. The total construction area of the experimental center is more than 25000 square meters, and the total value of equipment assets is more than 100 million yuan.


The experimental center has a Shanghai Municipal Engineering Training Center and three school level experimental teaching centers, and more than 50 teaching laboratoriesincluding intelligent manufacturing technology, modern equipment design and innovation, mechanical design, interchangeability and technical measurement, detection and sensing technology, microcomputer principle and interface, electromechanical transmission control, optical electromechanical integration, pneumatic hydraulic control technology, robot mechanism, machine vision and image processing, refrigeration and air conditioning, fluid and fluid machinery , thermal engineering and thermal testing, engine bench, engine structure, automobile chassis structure, vehicle semi anechoic room, automobile electronics and control, automobile bus and sensor, automobile modeling and simulation and new energy vehicles.The experimental center undertakes the college's experimental teaching tasks and scientific research experimental tasks of undergraduate majorssuch as Mechanical Design, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Automobile Engineering andAutomobile Service Engineering; and also undertakes the experimental teaching tasks of other similar majors of the university, and provide a scientific research platform for the scientific research of college teachers and postgraduates and students' extracurricular scientific and technological activities.


The experimental center has more than 20 scientific research laboratoriesincludingmodern robot mechanism laboratory, light alloy material processing laboratory, granular medium mechanics laboratory, digital design and innovation laboratory, new energy comprehensive utilization research institute, MEMS Design Control Research Institute, precision manufacturing and equipment automation research institute, clean combustion and boiler safety testing technology laboratory, low voltage electrical equipment testing research center, new energy and energy saving new technology research institute, intelligent equipment and precision testinginstitute, automation equipment and applicationinstitute, artificial environment and building energy saving technologylaboratory, robot intelligent cooperation and health assessmentlaboratory, complex thin plate connection technology and equipmentinstitute, research laboratory of vehicle NVH measurement and control technology, research laboratory of automobile parts damage and lightweight, research institute of heavy vehicle intelligent control and vehicle coupling technology, research institute of electromechanical hydraulic integrated control technology of intelligent equipment, health monitoring and control of automotive power componentsinstitute, research laboratory of automotive electronic control technology, visual measurement and control and intelligent navigationinstitute, multi-functional lightweight materials and structuresinstitute, intelligent cooperative robot application technologyinstitute, and automotive system dynamics and controllaboratory. The laboratory also undertakes tasks related to the innovation and entrepreneurship education experimental base of colleges and universities in Shanghai, including China university formula car competition, Honda China energy conservation competition, BAHA competition of China Society of automotive engineering, Shell-Eco automobile environmental protection marathon, national university student "Freescale" cup smart car competition, national university student mechanical innovation competition, national university student robot competition, etc. It has trained a large number of high-quality quasi engineers for the industry.


The experimental center has electronic universal testing machine, special robot control system for force control, high-performance single point laser vibration meter, microcomputer controlled electro-hydraulic servo universal testing machine, air tightness test bench, large workpiece detection platform, six-dimensional laser tracker, vibration test bench, SLA rapid prototyping machine, engine bench performance test and test, automobile noise and vibration test, exhaust emission test and other advanced test instruments and scientific research equipment. It can provide an experimental sharing platform with perfect facilities and complete instruments for students' practical teaching, teachers' scientific research and engineers and technicians in machinery and automobile industries.


On the basis of conscientiously completing the tasks of teaching, scientific research and external services, the experimental center has always actively explored new operation and management modes, continuously optimized the laboratory construction pattern, standardized and strengthened the laboratory construction and management, and made greater contributions to the cultivation of high-quality and applied engineering and technical talents.
