In order to improve our graduate students' scientific research ability and enhance their international exchange ability, on the afternoon of October 19, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering invited Professor RINOSHIKA, the winner of the 2022 Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology Foreign Experts Program, to give an online academic lecture on the Application of Wavelet Transform in Engineering Fluid Mechanics.

In the report, Professor RINOSHIKA first introduced the structure of multi-scale turbulence, showed the experimental results of two-dimensional wavelet transform, and introduced the application fields of the results obtained by wavelet transform. Then, he described the previous knowledge of Fourier series, Fourier transform, fast Fourier transform, Spectrum Analysis and other spectral analysis. On this basis, he explained the methods of one-dimensional, two-dimensional and three-dimensional orthogonal wavelet transform in detail, and gave the experimental results. In the online class, Professor RINOSHIKA interacted with the connected teachers and students, and exchanged ideas on the application of wavelet transform in engineering and other fields of interest to teachers and students. The lecture expanded the scientific research ideas of teachers and graduate students, and we benefited a lot.

Yamagata University of Japan was founded in 1878. Its mechanical department, electrical and electronic department, chemistry and chemical engineering department, mathematics department and physics department are all strong disciplines, and the university has the qualification to grant doctoral degrees.

Profile of Professor RINOSHIKA AKIRA:

Professor, Department of Mechanical System Engineering, Engineering Department, Yamagata University, Japan

Mainly engaged in vortex flow control, application of multi-dimensional wavelet transform, analysis of multi-scale turbulent flow field, multiphase flow, pneumatic transport, fluid solid coupling, visual testing technology and bionics, etc. In the research of multiphase flow and pneumatic conveying, the world has innovatively proposed the use of swirling flow, sand dune model and film vibration to achieve energy-saving pneumatic conveying. The PIV test and wavelet transform are used to analyze the particle velocity and the mechanism of velocity fluctuation in low speed solid gas two-phase flow for the first time in the world, which provides an important theoretical basis for low speed energy-saving pneumatic conveying and solid gas two-phase flow. In the application research of multidimensional wavelet transform, a new field of wavelet multi-resolution method in fluid mechanics is developed. And it is the first in the world to quantitatively reveal the instantaneous multi-scale structure of turbulence, making the research in this field a world leader. In the research of biomimetic hydrodynamics, the world creatively used PIV testing and theoretical analysis to quantitatively reveal the vortex propulsion principle of the water strider, which provides an important theoretical basis for the design and manufacture of the water walking biomimetic micro robot.

In 1995, he won the [Young Scientist Award of Japan Association of Mechanical Engineers], in 2001, he won the [Young Scientist Award of Japan Multiphase Flow Association], in 2003, he won the [Best Paper Award of Japan Visualization Information Association], in 2006, he won the [Most Advanced Research Award of Fluid Engineering Department of Japan Association of Mechanical Engineers], in 2009, he won the [Merit Award of Japan Visualization Information Association], and in 2013, he won the [Best Paper Award of Japan Visualization Information Association]. In 2012, he was awarded the "Fluids Engineering Award" as the youngest professor in Japanese history. He has published more than 110 papers in international top journals such as Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physical Review E, Chemical Engineering Science, International Journal of Multiphase Flow, Powder Technology, Experiences in Fluids, AIAA Journal, more than 140 papers in authoritative international academic conferences such as ICTAM, and more than 150 papers in domestic academic conferences in Japan. He also served as the evaluation expert of the National Science Foundation of Japan, the National Science Foundation of Canada and the National Science Foundation of Israel. He has served as the chairman of the branch meetings, member of the steering committee, member of the science and technology committee, and editorial member in international conferences for many times.
